Greetings creeps, monsters, weirdos and psychopaths! Andrenn here for a very special announcement! It's the Halloween season! Everything creepy and crawly now is out of the dirt and roaming your neighborhood. Slashers stalk every corner of your home and beasts are ready to devour you. So to celebrate this great month of October we have got a lot of special posts coming your way!
I'll put it simple for you all: I love Halloween. Since I was a little boy, I have loved it and even now I love it just as much, maybe even more. Horror is in my blood and courses through my veins constantly. So, to celebrate the month when all the weird wonders come out to play we have got a swarm of great posts to celebrate it all!
Now, because we have got so much to post, I think a schedule is in order to let you all know what to expect and when to expect it. All Halloween oriented posts meant to celebrate the season will come with the Halloween Label as a special way to make sure you know its part of the celebration. All right, enough talk, talk is cheap, blood has value and it does not get much bloodier than this schedule!
October 2nd: American Vampire Vol. 1 HC
Big thanks to Scott Snyder for sending me a review copy of American Vampire Vol. 1. By now, you all know American Vampire is on my pull list so I will be reviewing it on a regular basis. With that said, does the opening arc pack as much bite as everyone else says? Check out Saturday to find out.
October 3rd: My Birthday
What? You want me to post something on my birthday? Come on! It's my special day to be lazy and do nothing but eat cake. Go away. No posts on Andrenn's birthday, though if you want to send me presents I won't stop you.
October 4th: Castlevania the Adventure: Rebirth Review
Is this classic Castlevania game worth the 10 bucks it costs on Wiiware? In a market that is being dominated by nostalgia we will see if that is enough to make it a great game. This review is short which is why it's being posted early on.
October 6th: Trick 'R Treat Review
A movie I have heard nothing but love and praise for as one of the best new horror films of our generations. I have been wanting to watch and review this one for a long time. Does it hold up and make its mark on horror? We will find out.
October 7th: Reader Question
I am keeping hush, hush on what the questions are. Just expect a reader question on the 7th.
October 8th: Dracula: Ben Templesmith edition Review
My favorite novel of all time is re-released and this time with illustrations from one of my favorite artists out there. Does Templesmith's art add a new layer to an amazing story or is it just some boring pictures in the middle of my Dracula? Tune in to find out.
October 10th: My top 10 Twilight Zone Episodes
One of my favorite shows of all time. With tons of episodes to choose from picking just ten is a grueling task, but it's one I am up for. What ten great episodes are worthy enough to make the cut? You will find out in ten days.
October 11th: Reader Question
October 13th: The Walking Dead Book One HC Review
For the last few years I have been told I would love the Walking Dead. With the TV series not too far off, it's time to test that and see if I love Kirkman's classic tale of survival Horror as much as everyone else does.
October 15th: the Death of Dracula one-shot review
The one-shot that kicked off the frustrating Curse of the Mutants story arc in X-Men. Despite being a prologue to another dime a dozen stupid cash in event, does the death of the most famous vampire still make for a good read? We will find out soon.
October 18th: Scarlet Veronica Re-Review
Two years ago, I read an incredibly fun mini-series called Scarlet Veronica. I had a great time reading it. But, is it still as good as when I first read it? We are returning to Ramiesville and will be finding out the answer.
October 20th: High School of the Dead Review
Sexy anime meets the undead? Well that is certainly not the kind of mash up I saw coming. With panty shots galore, does this anime stand out as a great addition to the zombie genre or does it get lost in the fanservice? We will find out soon.
October 21st: Top 20 Favorite Horror Films, 20-11
Back in 2008, I did a Top 25 favorite horror films. To put it simply, my opinions have...changed. A lot of the films I enjoyed, but I am just not sure if they are Top 20 material. Therefore, the list has gotten rid of a lot and added a lot and there is even a new #1. Split one week apartm this half chronicles the 20th favorite to the 11th favorite on my list.
October 23rd: Top 5 Things I Want to see in the new Splatterhouse game
Replacing a Reader Question I wasn't too fond of, I thought its time I talk about the upcoming new Splatterhouse game. As someone who loved 1 and 2 and liked 3 I have big hopes for this game. Some things I want to see added, return, and subtracted, so here's that top 5 list of things I want in the new Splatterhouse game coming out this fall. Hopefully.
October 26th: Marvel Vampires: the Fall of Nosferatu
An Op/Ed piece about the current Vampire trend. I will stick mostly to its effect on comics, bringing up stuff like American Vampire, Curse of the Mutants, 30 Days of Night, etc. But, I will branch off a little and briefly talk about Twilight and other places where the vampires seem to rule the night. There is a lot to cover with this one. Is this vampire fad sucking the great monsters dry of all credibility or is this the best meal they have had in years? We will find that answer together.
October 30th: Reader Question
October 31st: Halloween and my top 20 favorite horror films, 10-1
The greatest day (and night) of the year! On Halloween, you all get the second half of my big horror extravaganza. Chronicling my Top 10, what made the list? What is my new #1? Find out Halloween Day!
But wait, there is more! Really there is, I am not kidding. Brandon is getting in the season spirit and will have some great posts coming your way to celebrate Halloween, including a collaboration with me on one of the best horror game series of all time. Though I have no idea when he is posting that so it's up in the air for now. As long as its not posted November I think we are good.
That is it for now, boils and ghouls. Get ready for the fright of your life as horror takes over the Comic Book Revolution! While these will not be the only reviews from me, these are the majority of my reviews. The rest of the Revolution will post their reviews like nothing is happening. So for all you party poopers out there that do not love a good scare do not worry, my horror celebration is not the only thing to entertain you this month. It's just me and Brandon at it; everyone else will do as they usually have.
Grab your knives and shotguns! The fear is here and it's not going away!
