Phil Hester Talks Invincible Universe

Guardians of the Globe was one of the best new ongoings of 2012. A year full to the brim with great new ongoings. The first ongoing spin-off of Robert Kirkman's long-running super hero series Invincible, Phil Hester and Todd Nauck took the premise of what Kirkman started and ran with it and in six short issues they went on for miles and miles of great stories and character moments. Now Guarding the Globe has ended and taking its place this April is Invincible Universe.

Invincible Universe #1 will be the new ongoing that takes a bigger look at th...

All-New X-Men #12 Review

All-New X-Men has not only been one of my favorite comics to come out of Marvel Now! but one of the comics I look forward to the most each month. Brian Bendis has done a great job helping to revitalize the X-Men franchise, along with Jason Aaron’s Wolverine and the X-Men. This is easily the most excited I’ve been to read the X-Men in years and a lot of that has to do with the dynamic that the founding members of X-Men being brought to the present have created. Now the X-Men face their biggest confrontation since this happened as the Uncanny Ave...

Green Lantern #21 Review

It’s the beginning of a new era for the Green Lantern franchise as Robert Venditti takes over after Geoff Johns capped off his epic run with Green Lantern #20. Under Johns Green Lantern became one DC Comics' three biggest franchises, spawning various supplementary titles. Now that Johns is gone he has left big shoes for someone to fill on the main Green Lantern series. So to say that Venditti and company have their work cut out for them would be an understatement. But as he brings the series a fresh start I decided to give Venditti’s Green Lant...

Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #1 Review

I haven’t read an issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws since the first issue way back when the New 52 started for DC Comics. I was largely unimpressed by the character work Scott Lodell did for Red Hood, Arsenal and Starfire. But with recent events involving Red Hood and the Batman Family I have been interested to see how Red Hood’s adventures have been turning out. After reading the preview for this series Annual, which is written by rising talent James Tynion, and some coaxing from one of my buddies on Twitter I decided to check out Red Hood and...

X-Men #1 Review (Marvel Now!)

The new crop of X-Men titles that have spun out of Avengers vs. X-Men, to go along with Wolverine and the X-Men, have given the X-Men the resurgence the franchise desperately needed. Now the latest X-Men title to come out of Marvel Now! is the properly titled “X-Men” by the creative team of Brian Wood and Olivier Coipel.

I am not overly familiar with Brian Wood’s work personally but I have heard a lot of good things about his comics. That said I do find the concept of X-Men starring the female members of the franchise to be highly intriguing. Th...
